Race calendar 5 October 2008 Run to the Beat, London Half Marathon This new London Half Marathon promises to be a lively and entertaining event. Live music will be played at strategic points along the route to help you on your way. Unfortunately due to the popularity of this run we have no further places left. However if you have your own place and would like to run in aid of Helen & Douglas House we would be happy to welcome you to our team! Chicago, on the shores of Lake Michigan, has one of the flattest marathon courses around, as well as the tallest building in the US and an array of shops to visit during your trip. This year's marathon coincides with World Hospice Day so is a perfect opportunity to support your local hospice at an international event. Helen & Douglas House will cover your entry fee if you aim to raise a minimum of £500 in sponsorship for the charity. We also offer money back towards travel expenses for those raising over £1,000 or £1,500 in sponsorship. Contact: Fiona on 01865 799 150 or 28 March 2009 Asics Reading Half Marathon A great fast road race with an even better finish as you come into the fantastic Madejski Stadium, home of Reading FC. The event also incorporates the Green Park Challenge- a 3.3 km fun run. Last year places sold out in record time so register early to avoid disappointment. Seventeen people took on the challenge of running 26.2 miles through the heart of London to raise funds for Helen & Douglas House. We would like to thank them for all the hardwork they put into raising sponsorship and of course all the training! Important entry information for Flora London Marathon 2009 The entry process is changing for 2009. The Flora London Marathon public ballot opened at 10am on Sunday 13th April 2008, the day of this years race. Entry will only be available online at Flora London Marathon The first phase of 80,000 applications was reached in less than 48 hours. Another 35,000 applications will go live on their site on Monday 21st April at 9am and it is expected that they will fill just as fast! Results will be available from the 1st October. Please remember to be eligible to enter the Helen & Douglas House ballot you must first enter the public ballot.
