Denise Lewis OBE, Olympic Gold athlete, is opening the new shop and warehouse in Aylesbury, on Saturday, 19 October, at 12.00. Denise will join staff, volunteers, families and members of the public between 11.00-13.00 and there will be activities for everyone to enjoy - including shopping!
The charity is transferring the warehouse and retail offices from Oxfordshire, to a prime site on Broadfields Retail Park.
Jobs will be advertised during October and there are volunteer opportunities, including warehouse, office, ecommerce and retail, available immediately.
Lesley Gorton. Head of Retail, Helen & Douglas House said; ‘We hope that local people will apply for jobs, volunteer, donate, or shop with us to enjoy what we have to offer, but also to support the highly specialist care we offer families from the area.’
The new shop will sell bric-a brac; donated furniture - including restored and up-cycled items - and will have a book section plus a specialist media section, selling vinyl records, CDs, DVDs and listening books. Donations of good quality but unwanted items are very welcome. Items of furniture can be collected by phoning 01235 530857(temporary number).
