Care at Helen & Douglas House doesn't stop with the child or young adult but reaches out to the whole family.

At Helen House brothers and sisters of children who stay at the hospice have the chance to come together for days out or weekend camps and make friends with other children who share similar family circumstances.

Why we love Helen House

Helen & Douglas House

Malachi is our brother and he was born not feeling very well, his brain somehow got a disease and he is now very disabled. There are three brothers and three sisters in our family and the only one who doesn't get on our nerves is Malachi because he is so cute and special.

Sometimes we are lucky enough to go to Helen House. When we step inside the house we always feel welcomed. There is a bunch of friendly, caring staff ready to take our brother and give Mum and Dad a break.

There is a carer who spoils him rotten, they do anything he wants (which is usually to be massaged, hugged and kissed). We also have a wonderful play-helper who sets us activities, arts and crafts, dressing up and sometimes we get to go our on outings which are FAB! We get to do fashion shows and dance routines and we put on little shows for all the staff and special children. They love it! And so do we!

Helen House has a music room, sensory light room, computer room, video and library room and a spa room which we can use as well as Malachi.

The staff are all so wonderful to us and also spoil us by letting us have treats and do late night baking. Also there is a cook who makes all the dinners and lunches and everyone sits together and shares the food. They have a great big round table.

We can't sing enough praise to Helen House and all the staff for looking after our lovely brother and us. We think Helen House is a very special place and that's why they look after very special children.
