Since 1999, almost every Monday evening, six members of Kidlington Townswomen have met at my home to produce craft items and greetings cards to raise money for Helen & Douglas House, although the bulk of the items are produced at home during the week!
Another six people, including my husband, family and friends also help. For five years, since he was 14, my grandson has taken part in sponsored runs.
After the opening of No Tat in the Oxford Covered Market, we have greatly increased production and funds. This year shop sales amounted to 4,843.75 and cheques sent directly from other fundraising events totalled 1,080, plus 300 from the Reading Half Marathon.
Throughout the year we have made at least 2,600 cards, an increase of 200 on last year's total. This year's fashion for scarves was very welcome as we have sold at least 100, knitted by various members of the group! My daughter then sold 60 at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading. And it's not just about raising money for Helen & Douglas House; through the sale of our goods many more people lean about the two hospice houses.
Helen & Douglas House would like to say a big thank you to all of Betty's team!
